Haven't played since October....
Yes, I have not played since October 2005. I decided to re-install GW because I'm thinking about getting factions. I have a few questions....
1) Should I merge my two accounts
2)What has changed since October
3)Is factions even worth buying?

Yes, merge them.
Nothing interesting has changed.. maybe the UW in the Tombs.
I think it's worth buying, new content is nice. New elites are very beneficial/useful. If you want to enjoy the game more, I'd say it's worth buying. But you haven't been playing.. so it's up to you.

Well if your a PvPer, there has been lots of FotMs that have been nerfed and such. They added the Battle Isles, with PvP training, a new Tombs like area for HoH, and they added a couple of maps to RA and TA.
For PvE: They made the old Tombs a UW like map that has 4 levels you have to clear. There are new Factions quests in LA and 1 in Bergen, they nerfed griffin farming and added a bunch of Scarabs. They nerfed most 55 soloing places other then the trolls outside of Droks, and many people dual UW with a SS and 55 now. I think that about raps it up .
Definatly merge the accounts. It keeps everything unlocked and you can transfer a lot easier.

I would / will. You'll only end up with 6 character slots instead of 8, but moving gold and stuff between characters will be much easier and all the unlocks are shared within the account. As for slots, there was a recent announcement that you will be able to buy additional ones if you desire, starting this summer.

- Arenas have been moved to the Battle Isles
- New Observer Mode so you can watch the top guilds at war
- New traders (dye, sigils, runes, rare materials) to stabilize the economy somewhat
- Several skills have been adjusted / nerfed. Chief among these is that in PvE, beasties run away from the Area of Effect spells (unfortunately, henchies still don't).
- Henchies are slightly different in behavior. Most noticeably, the healers will always rez rezzers first, sometimes duplicate rez actions, and will risk their lives and aggro to do so.
- New bonus areas: Grenth's Footprint / Sorrow's Furnace (north of Camp Rankor), and a new PvE Tombs of the Primevil Kings to replace the old PvP location -- nice goodies to be had
- Still no news about Gwen.

I think so. A lot of new ideas, rather than a "same thing different place" approach.

Buy both, seriously... the original is down to about $30 from a lot of places, and if you look carefully I'm sure you can find it for $20, especially if you can filter past all the gold-selling on eBay.
If you absolutely have to buy just one, go with Factions, there are a lot of features, and if you're playing soon, a good deal of the GW population will be playing that instead this month. The only problem is the profession imbalance then, Factions will be swarming with Assassins and Ritualists because they are new, but if you go with another profession, especially Monk, Elementalist, or Warrior (according to a poll I saw) I think, it shouldn't be hard at all to find a group.

That's a really good idea
If i were to choose between prophecies and factions, i'd take factions for the same price. So ya, get factions <3
